Bulls Trade Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker to Washington for Otto Porter Jr.

The Washington Wizards are sending Otto Porter to the Chicago Bulls for Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker.

Bobby Portis was very emotional after the trade news, leaving the UC visibly affected by the news. Just last show we talked about Bobby wanting to be a Bull for life.

Jabari Parker was surprised the Bulls moved Bobby Portis: “Bobby is the leader, the captain of our team, and just a guy that they loved. For him to get moved is obviously bitter. But hey, that’s just how it goes.’’

Jabari said he was going to get his last Chicago meal at Harold’s on 87th before heading to DC.

Marcus: If it’s me, I go to Lem’s Ribs, but Harold’s is good. One of these days I’ll share my meeting Michael Jordan story in the parking lot at Carson’s Ribs in Deerfield at Midnight the night of a huge win back in 1996.

Otto Porter Jr. Stats: https://www.foxsports.com/nba/otto-porter-jr-player-stats

In terms of Porter Jr, the 25-year-old has a chance to start fresh in a new location where he can take advantage of his natural talents. Despite modest scoring numbers, the forward can be an impact player while filling up the stat sheet in a number of ways.

He can rebound, defend and make open shots, knocking down 44.1 percent from three-point range in 2017-18.

The player’s all-around contributions helped him lead the Wizards and rank 26th in the league with 8.1 win shares last season, per Basketball Reference. His 9.4 win shares in 2016-17 was good for 21st in the NBA.

The 2013 No. 3 overall draft pick has continued to improve his all-around game and maintains his All-Star potential as he starts the next stage of his career for the rebuilding Bulls.

Otto Porter’s contract isn’t great at $27 million, but he fits in quite well with the current group as a versatile 3/D wing that can create his own shot.

When it’s all said and done, We’ll still have between $15-17 million to spend on a free agent for next year. Not a whole lot, but depending on who we draft, we could possibly get Derrick Rose to come back for about 3-5 million if needed and still have room for another mid-level guy.

In Other Bulls Trade News

The Chicago Bulls have traded a protected second-round pick of the 2020 NBA Draft to the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard/forward Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot (TEAM-oh-tay loo-WA-woo cab-uh-RO) and cash considerations. In a preceding move, the Bulls waived forward Carmelo Anthony.

Luwawu-Cabarrot (6-6, 210 pounds) is currently in his third season in the NBA. He has appeared in 21 contests and averaged 1.7 points and 0.9 rebounds in 5.9 minutes per game. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 24th pick of the First Round in the 2016 NBA Draft. A native of Cannes, France, he has played in 142 regular-season games (27 starts) with the Thunder and 76ers and holds career averages of 5.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 14.9 minutes per game.

Post-Game Analysis – Bulls vs New Orleans Pelicans

The Bulls LOST this game 125-120

In the 3rd quarter, Stacey King got on Felicio for not doing his job, not hustling back on defense. Stacy came down on him hard, as if it mattered. My reaction was, What are you thinking Stacey, Felicio is the designated Tank Commander now.. He IS doing his job!
